Classes run September 9th-December 2nd. No class Thanksgiving Day.
Make-up classes for snow or instructor illness will be added on to the end of the semester. The total semester length is 13 weeks.

Family Music for Babies (0-18months with caregiver)
This intimate class bonds the child and parent/caregiver. It introduces playful musical activities such as bouncing and rocking songs, wiggle and peek-a-boo games, singing, dancing, and moving. The teacher plays the role of coach as parents learn ways to play musically with their babies in arms. You will find that this class nurtures a bond of love and security, increases child’s curiosity about music, develops child’s listening skills and sense of flow and beat through movement and provides a model for both parent/caregiver and child. Registration includes bag of instruments, CD and parent book.

Family Music for Toddlers (15 months – 3 ½ years with caregiver)
For active toddlers, this class allows children to explore and experiment with the world of sound independently. Children will sing, chant, move, dance, listen, and play simple instruments. The activities are specially designed to stimulate musical interaction between child and parent. In addition to the benefits the infant class provides, you will find this class channels your toddler’s energy and productivity, facilitates expression of feeling, assists memory through repetition and develops further musical aptitude and focused listening. Registration includes CD, parent book and two pair of rhythm sticks.

Cycle of Seasons (3-5 years, caregiver optional)
Preschoolers love to use their imagination, and this class capitalizes on their delight in dramatic play within the musical context. This musical celebration of the four seasons builds on your child’s growing independence and competencies. Lessons include songs, movement activities, exploration of instruments and imaginative stories for children to make their own. You will see your child’s moving, singing and speaking skills enhanced, while their listening, focused attention and self-expression skills grow. Registration includes 2 CDs, 12 supplemental cards, parent book and a cloth bag.

Music Makers at Home Part 1 (4-7 years, caregiver optional)
4 and 5 year olds must be graduates of Cycle of Seasons to enroll.
Music Makers is a sequential, four semester program to take your child into purposeful music making. In this hour long class, your child will be engaged in activities that establish a solid music making foundation. This year focuses on your child’s fascination with nature and develops a love of instruments. Your child will be introduced to the sounds of orchestral instruments individually, and then in the context of an ensemble. Such a listening foundation will lead to long-term success with music reading in future classes. The elements of music reading are explored in fun games, and children begin to recognize the patterns they have been practicing in earlier Musikgarten classes in actual notation. Registration includes 2 CD’s, 2 parent books, rhythm and melody notation games, 2 posters, 2 instrument pages and a staff coloring sheet in a sturdy folder.

Pajama Time (0-5 years with caregiver)
The mixed age curriculum is perfect for family music making. Activities and song material encourage older children as they are developing language skills and challenge them to use their imaginations in new ways. The rhymes and songs are just as appealing to the younger children in the room, whether it is a toddler enjoying the movement and instrumental play or the infant who is simply enjoying the sound of the music and the rhythm of the words as s/he bonds with his/her caregiver. Music making permeates family life when presented in the mixed age setting. Registration includes CD, parent book and an instrument.
